The country: sea, mountains, beaches, coast…
The holiday farm and Bed&Breakfast “Sa Perda Arrubia” is about 3 km from Cardedu or the seaside. The Mediterranean scrub and the century old forests in Mount Ferru preserve a kind of flora and fauna that are outstanding and incomparable. The mountain is reflected in the crystal clear waters of the sea at its foot, which is reachable by car or through the ancient paths used by goatherds and charcoal burners. The village of Cardedu, with rural origin, is situated in a intersection between roads that lead to the “Tacchi”, the sea, the Pardu valley and the woodlands of Lanusei.
The sea has a sandy bottom and along the coast you can admire small inlets or wide expanses of sand, rocks, red porphyries or tiny enchanting creeks. You can also enjoy the variegate wild unspoiled sea landscapes taking advantage of the services proposed by Benthos Diving: rubber dinghy excursions along the coast of Perdepera, Su Sirboni, Coccorrocci and Cape Sferracavallo, as well as scuba diving guided tours among beautiful shallows, grottos and wrecks.
In the neighborhood of Cardedu, guests who are interested in archaeological heritage can visit some of the nuraghi and some of the ancient graves called Domus de Janas. There are also a fascinating sacred well and the very old rural church dedicated to the “Madonna del Buon Cammino”.
Outskirts and leisure From the farm you can quickly reach Barisardo and its marvellous beach with one of many defensive towers spread along the coast, as well as the beaches of Tortolì and Cea, characterized by white thin sand, shallow water and two wonderful outcrops of red porphyry that emerge from the sea, a true natural monument. Additionally, the mountain is not far away: the territory of Lanusei, highly located, keeps enchanting woodlands such as Selene wood.
The old “Trenino Verde” passes by Lanusei and runs through the most beautiful and unexpected spots of our island. It starts from the railway station of Arbatax, by the sea, then goes through the country of Girasole, Villagrande, Elini, Arzana, Ilbono and Lanusei. The landscape is full of beauties and emotions, such as the solitary “Perda Liana”, a kind of plateau called “tacco” of chalky rocks which brings to the territory of Gairo, Ussassai, Ulassai and Seui, or the perfumes and colours of the unspoilt environment of the nature reserve Montarbu.
Ogliastra means not only nature, but also history that can be discovered through the archaeological heritage of the land such as the nuraghe Su Siribissi in Osini, nuraghi Sa Iba Manna and Moru in Barisardo and many others, as well as Domus de Janas, holy wells and menhirs, called “Perdas Fittas”. Moreover, Ogliastra means religion and folklore: summer evenings in towns are characterized by performances of folk music bands, photographic exhibitions, folk dancing, Sardinian handicrafts expositions, town and religious festivals, like the “Festival of Madonna delle Grazie”
